Can Tripoli be the economic alternative in a time of collapse?

Amidst the economic crisis and regional conflicts, Tripoli emerges as a pivotal economic bet for Lebanon, driven by the reactivation of vital facilities such as the Port, the Rashid Karami International Exhibition Center, the Special Economic Zone (TSEZ), and the Rene Mouawad-Qleiat Airport.
Mr. Toufiq Dabboussi emphasized the necessity of solidarity and strategic planning to bolster the city’s role by developing these facilities and supporting the national economy. Meanwhile, Dr. Hani Shaarani noted that while investment has been impacted by the war, existing projects continue to be implemented alongside preparations for new opportunities.
Dr. Hassan Dhannawi opined that shifts in global trade provide Tripoli with the chance to become a logistics hub connecting the Gulf to the Mediterranean, thanks to its strategic location. Furthermore, Dr. Ahmed Tamer pointed out a slowdown in operations due to political anxiety, while anticipating a near settlement that could reinvigorate the economy. Ultimately, Tripoli stands before a genuine opportunity, conditioned upon stability and the effective investment of its potential.
